SYFFAL: Albums Reviews, Kite Person – Tonight We Run

by Tim Baker, January 2013, SYFFAL

Last week I wrote about Kite Person and their amazing new EP,Tonight We Run, in our Stop Sleeping column. I have been sitting on this album for a few weeks now trying to figure out how best to describe it to you guys and words kept failing me and it was this that let me know how much I love Tonight We Run.

I always have trouble writing about the albums that I grow obsessed with; the deeper I go into the album the more difficult it is for me to discuss it. It’s almost like some sort of intimacy issue I have, the fear of messing it all up by saying the wrong thing. I become paralyzed with fear.

Keep Albany Boring: Review of Kite Person’s “Tonight We Run”

by KC, Published on December 18, 2012 Keep Albany Boring

It’s a good week for Kite Person. Today marks the dropping of his debut EP on Sub-Bombin Records and this Thursday, Kite Person will be performing for free alongside ElsphinxThe Black Ships, Party Horn, Rally and DJ Mercy at the Fuze Box. Don’t you just love when things happen in a nice, chronological order?

Tonight We Run is a collaboration between local musicians and producers Kite Person and Rawhead, both of whom call home to the Sub-Bombin roster. These two working together makes perfect sense with a very complimentary combination of distinctive vocal stylings over ambient electronica beats. Their first time working together was supposed to be a one-off single that ended up leading to a full seven-track EP. You know, lock two creative souls in the studio and see what happens. I’m not mad about it.

Keep Albany Boring: KC’s Music Monday: Pig Food Records x Sub-Bombin

by KC, Published on November 12, 2012 Keep Albany Boring

On a local lean this Monday, my soundtrack this afternoon comes by way of area labels Pig Food Recordsand Sub-Bombin.

Both labels have yet to disappoint me with any release they’ve shared with me thus far and are consistently churning out top-tier quality music from some of the area’s most talented hip hop and electronic artists. Both collectives are working to help put Albany on the map and their hard work shows and doesn’t go unappreciated.

First up, is a new music video for the single, “Scissors,” from Benn Grim. The track was produced by Metalheart and Chip Crane directed the video.
