Midas returns to the Downtown City Tavern this Thursday, February 6 for his weekly DJ set. This week, he pays tribute to the late, great and Detroit’s very own James Dewitt Yancey aka J Dilla. Noted as one of the most well known and prolific Hip-Hop producers of time, he has worked with some of music’s elite including A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Busta Rhymes, Slum Village, Pharcyde, Common and a slew of others. He passed away on February 10, 2006 (4 days after his birthday) at the age of 32 from complications of a rare blood disease. Midas’s set starts at 10pm and goes until 1am and there is no cover. Come out to celebrate the great music of quite possibly the greatest Hip-Hop producer of all time!
