Introducing Gary Wilson

We announce the veteran electro-rocker and artist Gary Wilson to the ranks of the Sub-Bombin roster. Gary’s 1977 debut album You Think You Really Know Me was an instant cult classic. When he performed in the 1970s, his shows were very outrageous and bizarre to say the least (which continue to this day). He then, in the early 80s, quietly slipped away into obscurity and off the musical radar.

After years of being on hiatus, he came back to the music scene in 2002 and many notable artists were fans of his work including Beck, Peanut Butter Wolf  and The Roots’ ?uestlove to name a few. In 2005, Gary’s album Mary Had Brown Hair was released on Los Angeles-based indie label Stones Throw and was his first release of new material in almost 30 years. Gary has since continued to perform, tour and create new music to this day and is rumored to be working on some new music with his longtime fans Tyler The Creator and Earl Sweatshirt of Odd Future.

Wilson will be releasing his next album with us titled Alone With Gary Wilson. Today, we are streaming a single off the album, You Called Me On The Phone Last Night, which will be available to listen to on our SoundCloud. Visit his artist page for more info and we’ll have album release details to come.
